Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Enables Runners to #RunForever

The Nike LunarEpic Flyknit offers a virtually vanishing fit, fluid feel, and superior softness to help every runner push themselves to go beyond in every mile they take.

The LunarEpic Flyknit was conceptualized eighteen months ago when Nike’s running designers took insight and inspiration from the Nike Magista foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit to emphasize natural movement and fluidity; they set out to create a running shoe that imparted the same sensation while serving the runner’s key needs.

With a Flyknit-constructed upper for a locked-down fit and a Lunarlon midsole for lightweight cushioning, the LunarEpic Flyknit delivers a secure and smooth ride that will enable the wearer to #RunForever.  It is also incredibly versatile and is ideal for distance workouts, progression runs and recovery runs.

The LunarEpic Flyknit is now available in low version for women.  Both Mid and WMNA low versions are available at Nike Stadium, Glorietta 2 and Nike Park, Fort at Php 8,845 and Php 8,095 respectively.

Last June 30, I was invited at the launch of Nike LunarEpic Flyknit running shoes at Nike Park, Bonifacio High Street and I had a chance to try it at the Nike+ Run Club (NRC) Manila for 5 kilometers.  That is my first time to run with Nike LunarEpic Flyknit running shoes and my first time to use Nike running shoes and here is my review:

I find the cushioning same as my usual running shoes, lightweight and comfortable.  The uppers are soft and breathable which I always wanted in a running shoe.  It has enough ankle support.  Upon running 5k that night, I didn’t feel anything off that I mostly experience when I am trying out new shoes that don’t get well with my feet; no arch pain, no heel pain and no numbness in my 4th and 5th toes.  I think they jive with my feet though I still have to try it out on longer distances.  I still have to check it’s durability during longer distances like 21k and 42k.  I still have to test it under the rain; do they soak and feel heavy if they get wet and got blisters?  Do they still feel lightweight and cushiony at 32-km and above running?  Nonetheless, I enjoy running with them.  I will update you for my next running adventure with the new Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit running shoes.

Nike+ Run Club Manila continues to power Filipinos to lace up, get out, and RUN!

NRC logo

Nike+ Run Club (NRC) Manila, part of Nike’s largest and fastest growing global services platform for athletes, brings the best of Nike+ Running services and programs every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Held at exactly 7:34 pm at Nike Park in Bonifacio Global City, MRC sessions are open to runners and athletes of all levels.

The weekly sessions are led by NRC coaches Rio dela Cruz, Ian Banzon, and Ico Ejercito, who provide professional training and tips for runners to improve their times.

“NRC connects runners of all levels to expert NRC coaches, pacers, training plans and NRC community members,” said Patrick Reyes, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Philippines. “The Nike+ Run Club Manila will inspire and enable more runners to join the global running community, designed for first time runners, daily runners as well as race-day competitors.”

The Nike+ Run Club Philosophy:

  1. We are all meant to be runners.   Running doesn’t turn away anyone at the door.  If we want to bring out the runner inside us, we just have to lace up and get out.
  2. We are not just runners. We are athletes.  It takes more than a pair of legs to be fast.  It takes our entire body, mind, and unbreakable spirit.
  3. Every run has a purpose. Some days we’ll feel pushed.  Some days we’ll push back.  Find the meaning in every mile.
  4. Respect every workout. Fear no workout.  It’s going to be hard.  That’s why we love it.  Respect is earned from doing the work.  So get out and get after it.
  5. Embrace your weaknesses. Then erase them.  With regular and consistent work, our weaknesses can become our strengths.
  6. Measure success in as many ways as you can. Not every run will be our farthest or fastest, but ever run is an achievement and should be seen as such.
  7. We believe in you, even if you don’t. On days when we feel less than our best, we can always seek motivation from our community Nike+ Run Club is here to remind us that our best is always within our reach.

My Thoughts:

Top to bottom: Nike Running gear. Running Shoes: Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit low-cut

Last June 30, I had a chance to take part of this running clinic.  That night, the training was for 5k run.  There are designated pacers per pace group – 4:30 pace, 5:00 pace, 6:00 pace and 7:00 pace group.  I picked the “kembot” pace group, the 7:00 with my co-blogger friend Allan as we are just breaking in the new Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit.

We traversed the 5k route of Bonifacio High Street crossing the Uptown area towards the University Blvd and back again to the Nike Park Bonifacio High Street to do some stretching and cool down exercises.

Though that was a bit tiring but I did enjoy the run.  I met new running friends and saw old running friends.  The pacers are very supportive, they will not give up just to help you attain your goal.

Join them every Tuesday and Thursday night.  Register prior to each NRC running session at

And for my verdict

This is my first time to run with Nike running shoes and luckily I was given a chance to run with their new Lunar Epic Flyknit. For details regarding the Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit running shoes, read here.

Adidas has premiered a new series of films kicking off the brand’s Sport16 initiative, underlining Adidas’ leadership and passion for sports.

The first chapter of films, “I’m Here to Create,” is told through a female athlete’s lens and stars global tennis icon Caroline Wozniacki, WNBA All-Star Candace Parker, supermodel/entrepreneur Karlie Kloss, tennis star Ana Ivanović, soccer prodigy Morgan Brian, DJ Hannah Bronfman, street athlete Robin Arzon and fitness artist Nicole Winhoffer, among others.

“Who I am is not defined solely by what I achieve on the tennis court,” said Wozniacki. “My passions and creativity off the court inspire me to be a better athlete and this film series brings together everything that makes me uniquely me. It is exciting and inspiring to be part of a larger group of women who share this same creative mindset.”

The “I’m Here to Create” film series, created in partnership with 72andSunny, brings to life authentic stories of real female athletes, who show the world the numerous ways in which they embrace creativity to tackle challenges, defy conventions, express themselves and fuel experimentation all in the name of sport.

Wozniacki’s film highlights how her unconventional forms of training fuel her game on the court while Parker’s story centers on her redefinition of motherhood. Bronfman explores her continuous path of reinvention to create the unexpected, Arzon has reinvented herself through sport after an almost near- death experience and Winhoffer re-shapes traditional workout routines to engage broader audiences in sports.

Through “I’m Here to Create,” Adidas will empower athletes across the world to declare how they bring creativity to sport and to celebrate those in their life who have inspired them to push beyond the norm.

“We remain relentless and loud in our pursuit of being the world’s best sports brand,” said Lia Vakoutis, Adidas’ Senior Director of Global Communications. 2015 was about challenging athletes to create their own game while 2016 focuses on owning creativity in sports. The ‘I’m Here to Create’ films engage athletes’ imaginations to use creativity to push their own athletic and personal boundaries. We will continue to celebrate athletes and influencers who reshape traditional views of sport through creativity this year.”

The new film series is an extension of Adidas’ three year brand plan that kicked off in 2015. “I’m Here to Create” features 15 and 30-second spots for each athlete that debuted online today and will air globally in more than 50 countries during key moments including UEFA Champions League, The GRAMMYs, the BRIT Awards and the Oscars, among others.

“We are obsessed with the versatile female athlete – women who love sports, make decisions every day to live an active life and are helping to change sports around the world,” said Nicole Vollebregt, Adidas’ Head of Women’s. “This year, we will consistently roll out women-focused activations, partnerships, products and events that will allow us to further connect with this athlete on a personal level.”

The “I’m Here to Create” film series builds on Adidas’ momentum across sport and style. Starting the new year, adidas launched the world’s first high performance laceless soccer cleat, the ACE16+ Purecontrol and last week, the brand unveiled the Pure BOOST X running shoe, built specifically for women and featuring a first of its kind floating arch. Over the next month, fans will see the best of Adidas on the world’s biggest stages, including Super Bowl 50, UEFA Champions League, New York Fashion Week, NBA All-Star Weekend, The GRAMMYs and the NFL Combine.

Thousands of runners color the streets of Alabang Last May 28 for the CM Blacklight Run

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Thousands of runners colorfully illuminated the night as Color Manila held their Blacklight Run last May 28, 2016, at Filinivest City, Alabang. The one-of-a-kind night run treated around 8,000 runners to a night of colors, music, and fun.

Inspired by India’s Holi Festival, Color Manila brought the fun to the Philippines and began mounting color-inspired races in 2013, getting bigger and bigger every year. For the CM Blacklight Run, the team used special colored powder which illuminate when put under the blacklight, giving participants during the race an even more exciting running experience.

“We wanted to allow people to have clean active fun. Running is for everyone and we just want everyone to experience the real fun in a fun run,” shares Justine Cordero, Vice President of Color Manila.

But the fun didn’t stop when participants crossed the finish line. The CM Blacklight Run proved to be just more than your usual fun run. A race and party rolled into one, participants partied together to the beats of DJ Katsy Lee during the after-party and Color Festival.

Missed all the fun last Saturday? Watch out for the next Color Manila Run happening in October. “We’ll be having another race before the end of the year. We want to keep encouraging everyone to get into running so we find different ways to make it fun. This October, we’ll be having the Costume Run, so that’s definitely a race we want everyone to be excited about,” ends Jay Em, President of Color Manila.

Walking a couple of blocks to work should not be tough, neither should carrying a child, nor squatting down to pick up keys from the floor. Physically, there’s no denying that life is better lived when an individual can go through his or her daily routine with ease. The human body was designed ready to take on physical challenges. However, the conveniences brought about by modern life have made even the simplest physical tasks difficult for some people.

Alpha Strength is a gym which strongly believes that when a person is strong, everything becomes easy.

Alpha Strength makes sure that these are not problems for the people who train there. In fact, getting stronger physically to be able to go through day-to-day life is just the tip iceberg. In Alpha Strength, people begin with goals of getting fitter and healthier, optimizing performance, and maximizing athletic capabilities, but they do not stop there. Strength is a never-ending journey and, quite frankly, getting physically stronger along with the abs, legs, and biceps that come with it, is but a small aspect.

In Alpha Strength, the ultimate goal is to help people create better versions of themselves by thinking outside of the box and finding their inner strength.

Be Alpha

Most people get turned off by working out because they see it as difficult and painful–but that pain is mostly caused by incorrect movement patterns that are formed by sedentary lifestyles or even spending a lot of time sitting. BE ALPHA is designed to address this problem. The program is crafted to fix movement patterns–BUILDING physical and mental strength–as an individual progresses.

With a person’s fitness and health goals in mind, BE ALPHA begins with an assessment of current health and capacity. Limitations in movement are then addressed, followed a measured increase in the intensity of workouts. Alpha Strength coaches empower clients throughout the process, training body—and mind—to build strength.

Contrary to popular belief, building strength is not only achieved through barbells. At Alpha Strength–even at the BE ALPHA program–Mace Bells, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, and other tools are used to get clients to get their bodies moving the way the human body is designed to move.

Alpha 365

In order for the human body to get better in any aspect of movement, sport, and even life, it needs to adapt to stress. This is the only way for the body–and mind–to get better. This is the simple science behind Alpha 365: making the human body to adapt to stress.

In ALPHA 365, the stressors work in two ways:

First, progressive overloading helps the body adapt and succeed in its goals within each mesocycle (a mesocycle represents a specific block or timeframe of training designed to accomplish a particular goal).

Second, the varied methods employed during conditioning training helps members and athletes adapt in the three energy systems of the body’s functions: Glycolytic, or short bursts of energy; Phosphagen, short-medium bursts of energy; and Oxidative–long usage of energy.

The ALPHA 365 program utilizes multi-joint compound movements and Powerlifting exercises thrice per week (Squat, Press, and Deadlift). Combined with weightlifting exercises done twice a week (Snatch and Clean & Jerk), the program help develop people to maintain their fitness, as well as become competent in any field of sport.

ALPHA 365 is all about holistic fitness. For cardiovascular health and endurance, the program employs finishers or conditioning exercises every day after finishing the strength work.

With a science-based program that ensures a holistic approach to workouts and dedicated coaches who ensure that clients are on top performance level–the ALPHA 365 program pushes people to become the best athletes they can be.

Becoming stronger is not easy; it will test you, it will disappoint, and just like life, it is not a walk in the park. That’s why getting strong is worth it, and that’s what we are; we make people stronger.

In the four corners of this gym, we will prepare you for whatever life will throw at you. Lifting weights is just a metaphor to what we do. What we want you to be, is the best, strongest version of yourself.

In this current world of ours where everything is fast paced, almost everything is given, everyone feels entitled; strength is one of the few virtues that you will need to work for.

All throughout history, philosophers, statesmen and various great men have emphasized the importance of strength. Why? Because they know that When all else fails, being strong will pull you through.

Why ALPHA STRENGTH? Because we will make you strong, we can make you a better person because when you’re strong, everything else will fall in its place.
