7-Eleven Run now on its seventh year

After the successful Run 800 in 2013, Run 1000 in 2014, Run 1500 in 2015, Run 2016, Run 2017, and in 2018 the race was first held simultaneously in 3 locations across the country with over 25,000 runners participating.  So this year,  get your running gear ready as 7-Eleven officially launches the 7th year of the 7-Eleven Run Series.

This year promises to be even bigger, better and more exciting. Runners can expect to see new race categories, a chance to compete in an international Asian marathon, and even have the opportunity to win P500,000 cash.

The race in Luzon will be held in Filinvest City, Alabang. The Visayas leg will be held at Cebu Business Park, while the Mindanao leg will be in SM City Davao.

This year, runners will see new distances that will challenge experienced and novice runners alike. 7-Eleven is introducing the 32K category. Runners also have other options:  from a short 500 meter run for kids, a 10K buddy category, and up to a 42K full marathon.

“The 7-Eleven Run Series is one of the most anticipated marathons in our country today,” said Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO of Philippine Seven Corporation. “We listened to our runners and added new distances like the 32K which will serve as an entry point or trial run for 42K.”

The race in Manila and Cebu will have 10 categories that will cater to different types of runners. The categories are as follows:

  • 500M kids       Php 400
  • 3K                     Php 500
  • 5K                     Php 600
  • 5K Buddy        Php 500
  • 10K                   Php 700
  • 10K Buddy      Php 1,200
  • 16K                   Php 800
  • 21K                   Php 1,000
  • 32K                   Php 1,200
  • 42K                   Php 1,500

Customers can also redeem free race kits from the CLiQQ Rewards Catalog when they buy participating items from sponsors. Run 2019 e-stamps can be earned when customers buy participating items worth P100 and have their CLiQQ app barcode scanned. This year, the overall top 3 Filipino winners for 21K, 32K, and 42K will be awarded cash prizes and medals, plus a chance to join an international marathon in Asia, all expenses paid. Last year, winners of the 21K and 42K races from 7-Eleven Run Series 2018 were sent to Jeju, South Korea to compete at the 23rd Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival where they dominated the top spots in their respective race categories.

2016 SOFITEL MANILA HALF MARATHON

On its fourth year of promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in cooperation with RunRio, brings the much-anticipated running event – The 2016 Sofitel Manila Half Marathon on August 21, 2016.  The event will  now taking off from the CCP Open Field which is next to Sofitel and offers more activity space and private parking for runners.  This annual event is held for the benefit of the children of Virlanie Foundation.

“We hope to continue engaging runners to join events like the Sofitel Manila Half Marathon that not only is a hub for both amateur and professional runners but also serves a noble purpose – to make a difference in the lives of the children of Manila through the Virlanie Foundation,” – Coach Rio de la Cruz.

There are different roads to access the CCP Open Grounds:

By public utility vehicles:

  • Ride a PUV that takes a route passing by Taft Ave. and get down at Gil Puyat Ave. corner Taft.  You may need to walk from there until the CCP Open Grounds (activity area) which is about one block away.

Coming from Manila area by car:

  • Take Taft Ave. and then make a right at Buendia Ave.  The parking entrance near World Trade Center will be closed after 3:00am so you’ll have to make a left a D. Macapagal blvd., turn right as Seaside blvd., and then another right at Jose Diokno drive.  Parking entrance is located in from of Manila Film Center (Amazing Show).

Coming from EDSA or Southern Metro Manila area by car:

  • From EDSA, head to Mall of Asia rotunda and make a right at D. Macapagal blvd. if you’re arriving before 3:00am.  The parking entrance near World Trade Center will be closed after that time period so you’ll have to turn right at Jose Diokno drive alternatively.  Parking entrance is located in fron of Manila Film Center.

Coming from S. Metro Mania area by car:

  • From NAIA road, take Roxas blvd. and make a left at EDSA intersection.  Head to Mall of Asia rotunda and make a right at D. Macapagal blvd. if you’re arriving before 3:00am.  The parking entrance near World Trade Center will be closed after that time period so you’ll have to turn right at Jose Diokno drive alternatively.  Parking entrance is located in front of Manila Film Center.

Phillippine Marine Corps Marathon – “Katungkulan: Takbo Para sa mga Kawal”

Want to run a challenging and breathtaking route?

Join the first ever Philippine Marine Corps Marathon that will be held on November 15, 2015 at the Marine Base Gregorio Lim, Ternate Cavite.

This activity is part of their 65th birthday celebration.  Proceed will go to the educational program of PMCOSAI (Philippine Marine Corps Spouses Association Incorporated).  The goal of the group was to help in the education of deserving dependents of  marines.

Another part of the proceeds will goes to the troops who are presently assigned in the Kalayaan Island Group.  The troops have least access to the mainland, no commercial transportation, limited communication; so it would mean a lot for them if we can make their Christmas special by bringing them goods in the spirit of Yuletide season.
