Nike+ Run Club (NRC) Manila, part of Nike’s largest and fastest growing global services platform for athletes, celebrates its first anniversary of bringing the best of Nike+ Running services and programs to athletes and runners of all levels.

“NRC connects runners of all levels to expert NRC coaches, pacers, training plans and NRC community members,” said Patrick Reyes, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Philippines. “The Nike+ Run Club Manila inspires and enables more runners to join the global running community, and is designed for first time runners, daily runners as well as race-day competitors.”

With over 13,000 runners who registered in its twice-weekly sessions, the NRC community continues to grow significantly. Led by NRC Coaches Ian Banzon, Rio dela Cruz, and Ico Ejercito, and supported by NRC Pacers, NRC sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday, 7:34 PM, in front of the Nike Park store in BGC.

Runners must register for NRC Manila sessions prior to each running session as there are capacity limitations. NRC Manila is open to both men and women. Runners can register online for NRC sessions at nike.com/manila.

The Nike+ Run Club Philosophy

  1. We are all meant to be runners. Running doesn’t turn away anyone at the door. If we want to bring out the runner inside us, we just have to lace up and get out
  2. We are not just runners. We are athletes. It takes more than a pair of legs to be fast. It takes our entire body, mind, and unbreakable spirit.
  3. Every run has a purpose. Some days we’ll feel pushed. Some days we’ll push back. Find the meaning in every mile.
  4. Respect every workout. Fear no workout. It’s going to be hard. That’s why we love it. Respect is earned from doing the work. So get out and get after it.
  5. Embrace your weaknesses. Then erase them. With regular and consistent work, our weaknesses can become our strengths.
  6. Measure success in as many ways as you can. Not every run will be our farthest or fastest, but every run is an achievement and should be seen as such.
  7. We believe in you, even if you don’t. On days when we feel less than our best, we can always seek motivation from our community. Nike+ Run Club is here to remind us that our best is always within our reach.

The Right Tights

Different athletic activities affect different muscle groups. For example, a distance run optimizes the quads, hamstrings and calves; whereas a high intensity workout demands core activation.  In addition to muscle groups, another factor amongst athletes is the desire to achieve the best workout, every time, and they look to products to help them gain the advantage.

“Efficiency is always a key factor for our athletes — they want to get the most out of every workout,” explains Helen Boucher, VP of Women’s Training Apparel Product. “Tights are a huge part of any athlete’s uniform and we analyzed every design and fit detail to ensure key parts of the body are compressed for the right sport.”

With that in mind, Nike’s newest Zonal Strength Tights feature compression zones built directly into the base fabric, targeting key muscle groups to reduce muscle vibration for an efficient workout, without restricting mobility.

Are you a runner?

Nike Zonal Strength Running Tights target thighs and calves to reduce muscle vibration where runners need it most. Flyvent waistband provides breathability and four-way stretch fabric enhances mobility, especially in the hips and knees.

Do you hit the gym?

Nike Zonal Strength Training Tights provide enhanced support and muscle awareness in the core, glutes, quads and hamstrings. A high-rise waistband provides additional core awareness, which is integral for all training activities, from low impact like yoga to high impact cross training. Flat seams allow for zero distractions.

“Joining Nike is a dream come true,” Day said. “The brand is synonymous with the world’s best athletes. I’m honored and can’t wait to be part of the team and working closely with Nike to take my game, and the sport of golf, to even higher levels.”

The partnership comes on the heels of back to back stellar years for Day. The 28-year-old Australian closed 2015 with four wins in his final seven starts, including his first major title with a record-breaking 20-under-par performance at the PGA Championship. That momentum carried over into 2016, with Day notching three wins — including coveted titles at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the WGC-Dell Match Play and THE PLAYERS Championship.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jason to the Nike Golf team and our family of athletes,” Daric Ashford, President of Nike Golf said. “He’s an incredible player who has demonstrated tremendous work ethic and amazing resilience over the course of his career. We’re excited to help him chase more championships in the coming years.”

Since turning pro in 2006, Day has secured ten PGA Tour titles and 57 top-ten finishes.

When he’s not on the course, Day enjoys spending time at home with his family in Ohio, where he and his wife Ellie have established the Brighter Days Foundation which benefits local charities.
