Nike+ Run Club Manila (NRC) Celebrates Its First Anniversary

image

Nike+ Run Club (NRC) Manila, part of Nike’s largest and fastest growing global services platform for athletes, celebrates its first anniversary of bringing the best of Nike+ Running services and programs to athletes and runners of all levels.

“NRC connects runners of all levels to expert NRC coaches, pacers, training plans and NRC community members,” said Patrick Reyes, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Philippines. “The Nike+ Run Club Manila inspires and enables more runners to join the global running community, and is designed for first time runners, daily runners as well as race-day competitors.”

With over 13,000 runners who registered in its twice-weekly sessions, the NRC community continues to grow significantly. Led by NRC Coaches Ian Banzon, Rio dela Cruz, and Ico Ejercito, and supported by NRC Pacers, NRC sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday, 7:34 PM, in front of the Nike Park store in BGC.

Runners must register for NRC Manila sessions prior to each running session as there are capacity limitations. NRC Manila is open to both men and women. Runners can register online for NRC sessions at nike.com/manila.

The Nike+ Run Club Philosophy

  1. We are all meant to be runners. Running doesn’t turn away anyone at the door. If we want to bring out the runner inside us, we just have to lace up and get out
  2. We are not just runners. We are athletes. It takes more than a pair of legs to be fast. It takes our entire body, mind, and unbreakable spirit.
  3. Every run has a purpose. Some days we’ll feel pushed. Some days we’ll push back. Find the meaning in every mile.
  4. Respect every workout. Fear no workout. It’s going to be hard. That’s why we love it. Respect is earned from doing the work. So get out and get after it.
  5. Embrace your weaknesses. Then erase them. With regular and consistent work, our weaknesses can become our strengths.
  6. Measure success in as many ways as you can. Not every run will be our farthest or fastest, but every run is an achievement and should be seen as such.
  7. We believe in you, even if you don’t. On days when we feel less than our best, we can always seek motivation from our community. Nike+ Run Club is here to remind us that our best is always within our reach.

Nike Beautiful X Powerful Premium Leather

Nike has been saluting all women around the world, ever since the sporting brand made it big in the industry. Nike’s first footwear collection inspired by female athletes and their boundary breaking accomplishments, the Nike Beautiful X Powerful Collection rethinks four Nike footwear icons and imbues each with that aforementioned trademark.  “There is no finish line” declaration.  It also showcases a speed-stripe, jacquard-woven material that is inspired by the winning lap and iconography of Samuelson’s race.

iza-goulart

In two hours, 24 minutes and 52 seconds, Joan Benoit Samuelson ignited a revolution. The year was 1984, the location: Los Angeles, the event: the first women’s marathon in the history of the Games.

The victory definitively decimated obsolete notions that had previously limited women’s running to 1,500 meters: the belief that women weren’t physically capable of enduring such distances. The race itself paid off years of campaigning for the inclusion by the IRC: the International Runners Committee, created by a group of female runners who were supported by Nike.

Samuelson’s Los Angeles performance, coupled with the slogan she lives by: “There is no finish line,” also inspired the company to continuously evolve its efforts to support and celebrate female athletes across all sports. Over the years, Nike’s dedication to these athletes has constantly grown, from the creation of the Nike Women’s runs, then an international race series that expanded the movement worldwide, evolving into the Nike Women community – more than four million global athletes who run and train together, motivated by a shared mindset and commitment to pushing their limits.

The Nike Beautiful X Powerful Collection Premium Leather is available October 6 via the SNKRS App and majority of Nike retail stores.

The collection is available in majority of Nike retail stores with the following SRP:
  • Nike Air Max Thea – 6745 php
  • Nike Air Presto – 6745 php
  • Nike Air Huarache – 6745 php
  • Nike Cortez – 4795 php

The Nike Beautiful X Powerful Collection Jacquard is available December 1.

NIKE LAUNCHES THE UNLIMITED STADIUM TO UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL OF FILIPINOS

img_20160804_182346.jpg

Nike’s Unlimited campaign continues with the launch of the video ‘Unlimited You’ and the Unlimited Stadium last August 4, 2016.  The Stadium is a space in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila’s iconic running hub.  It’s open for all runners from August 5 to 21, the Unlimited Stadium features a digitally-enabled running track and challenges Filipinos to unlock their potential through running events and services for the next 17 days. It will be open from 4 PM to 10 PM, daily.

Unlimited You video

THE UNLIMITED STADIUM

Nike reimagined the running track and created the Unlimited Stadium, a space in the shape of a 100-foot sole print of the Nike LunarEpic Low Flyknit, one of Nike Running’s latest footwear innovations. It is a digital and physical experience, featuring a 200-meter running track lined with LED screens, and bringing Nike experiences, products and services together to inspire and enable runners to go beyond their limits.

Runners are invited every day to race against their digital avatars of themselves that grows in size based on the speed and distance they run, motivating runners to push and do more than they thought possible. Runners will be rewarded as they complete each challenge, with an epic run experience by Nike as the ultimate reward.

“The Unlimited Stadium is designed to encourage people to push beyond their limits, and to celebrate the spirit of doing more than what you thought was ever possible. Especially in the next 17 days when the world watches the best athletes on the planet defy expectations, Nike enables Filipinos with the opportunity to do the same through the Unlimited Stadium, innovations and the Nike+ community,” said Bulbul Khera, Senior Director for Marketing, Nike Southeast Asia.

My Unlimited Experience

I am one of those first lucky people who was given the chance to experience the fun and excitement at the Unlimited Stadium.  We were given the privilege run with Nike LunarEpic Flyknit.  This time, I am wearing the high-cut version.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We were grouped into 3 runners per wave and I was placed at the last wave with my blogger friend Dennis.  We were instructed to run for 4 laps, the first laps is a warm-up and at the last 3 laps, our avatar run with us and as the run progresses, the avatar increases its speed making you to push more.  You have to beat your avatar 3 times to receive a Nike pin.  It’s so cool seeing my avatar running with me and seeing how am I doing but at the same time, I am persuaded to beat it.  As we are chatting and enjoying the route, I got confused with our number of laps as our avatars are behind us already (huh, yabang… hehehe), I was just directed by the marshals to run towards the finish line.  We just realized that exceeded our laps when we saw our result; and yes, we beat our avatars (yabang again… pagbiyan nyo na ako… minsan lang ito.. hehehe).

The place was so enticing (all runners know what I mean).  The place was well-conceptualized; the uphill and downhill approach that gives the runner a little bit speed workout aside from the avatar pushing you, the digital wall where you can see your avatar and race with them.

Breaking in the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit at the Nike Epic Run

img_20160716_163609.jpg

Last July 16, 2016, I was invited to test the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit in a more longer distance – 10K at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.  We arrived around 4pm in Nuvali Park and then there I readily change my shoe gear into Nike LunarEpic Flyknit.  So many runners are very excited to try the new running shoes, excited taking photos, and excited to run with them.

And off we go

I told my blogger friend Dennis to join the 7:00 min/km pace group as I was sick 2 weeks ago and wasn’t able to run due to weakness, and I want to really feel the shoes.

I was right with my decision. as we are traversing the Nuvali Park, we were surprised to be directed to make a left turn, away from the main road.  OMG!  I was not informed! It was a trail run!.. hahaha…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It was my first time to run at the trails of Nuvali.  The route is not that challenging but we had hard time traversing it as it was a bit slippery as there as been some periodic rain showers at that time; but nonetheless, the view is amazingly beautiful.

With the whole NRC gang

My verdict

When I ran the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit first in a 5K run at NRC in BGC, I find the shoe lightweight and comfortable but a little bit bouncy which is good for me.  The uppers are soft and breathable.  It has enough ankle support.  The feeling is also the same when I ran for a 10-km trail route, though a bit slippery.  I think the sole was not made for trail running; moreover, it was conceptualized for a secure and a smooth ride along the road.   Nonetheless, my usual concerns in trying out new running shoes like – am I experiencing arch pain, heel pain or numbness in my 4th and 5th toes?  Happily, I didn’t feel anything off.  The Nike LunarEpic Flyknit jive with my feet, but I still have to try it in a longer distance as I usually join longer races.  I still have to test it under the rain; do they soak and feel heavy if they get wet and got blisters?  Do they still feel lightweight and cushiony at 32-km and above running?  Nonetheless, I enjoy running with them.  I will update you for my next running adventure with the new Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit running shoes.

Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Enables Runners to #RunForever

_MG_5698

The Nike LunarEpic Flyknit offers a virtually vanishing fit, fluid feel, and superior softness to help every runner push themselves to go beyond in every mile they take.

The LunarEpic Flyknit was conceptualized eighteen months ago when Nike’s running designers took insight and inspiration from the Nike Magista foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit to emphasize natural movement and fluidity; they set out to create a running shoe that imparted the same sensation while serving the runner’s key needs.

With a Flyknit-constructed upper for a locked-down fit and a Lunarlon midsole for lightweight cushioning, the LunarEpic Flyknit delivers a secure and smooth ride that will enable the wearer to #RunForever.  It is also incredibly versatile and is ideal for distance workouts, progression runs and recovery runs.

The LunarEpic Flyknit is now available in low version for women.  Both Mid and WMNA low versions are available at Nike Stadium, Glorietta 2 and Nike Park, Fort at Php 8,845 and Php 8,095 respectively.

During the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Launch

Last June 30, I was invited at the launch of Nike LunarEpic Flyknit running shoes at Nike Park, Bonifacio High Street and I had a chance to try it at the Nike+ Run Club (NRC) Manila for 5 kilometers.  That is my first time to run with Nike LunarEpic Flyknit running shoes and my first time to use Nike running shoes and here is my review:

img_20160630_183201.jpg

I find the cushioning same as my usual running shoes, lightweight and comfortable.  The uppers are soft and breathable which I always wanted in a running shoe.  It has enough ankle support.  Upon running 5k that night, I didn’t feel anything off that I mostly experience when I am trying out new shoes that don’t get well with my feet; no arch pain, no heel pain and no numbness in my 4th and 5th toes.  I think they jive with my feet though I still have to try it out on longer distances.  I still have to check it’s durability during longer distances like 21k and 42k.
