RIBBONS OF LOVE: Cancer Run

The Philippine College of Surgeons Cancer Commission (PCS CanCom) is a leading multisectoral, multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder organization actively influencing the advancement of quality cancer care and setting the highest standards for better health outcomes in the Philippines through highly specialized capacity building and development, dynamic and groundbreaking collaborations and popularization of relevant scientific researches. 

This year, to celebrate the gift of life for cancer survivors, their family and friends together with the healthcare providers and industry partners, the PCS CanCom is organizing a Fund-Raising Fun Run called “RIBBONS OF LOVE: Cancer Run” on February 11, 2024, Sunday, 4:00-9:00 am at The CCP Complex, Pasay City. 

Another objective of “RIBBONS OF LOVE: Cancer Run” is to raise awareness on the diagnosis and management of different types of cancers. In line with that, there will be a cancer screening examination for 100 participants for breast, thyroid, cervical and prostate cancer. And to create more awareness, educational materials regarding screening, diganosis and management will also be shared on that event.

There will be 5 categories: 200M (up to 10 years old), 3KM, 5KM, 10KM and 16KM fun run categories. Pets can accompany the runners for an additional cost.

KCC GenSan Marathon 2024

Every new year promises new beginnings, new goals and new aspirations. Health –
wise, staying active and keeping tab on our daily routines are essential aspects in our
wellness journey. There are various ways to get fit and stay fit.

RSRJ Events Management is inviting all runners, health and wellness enthusiasts to join
the KCC GenSan Marathon 2024 on February 18, 2024. The event is a perfect venue
to keep on training to achieve your goals, promote and maintain your physical and

The KCC GenSan Marathon 2024 will also showcase the strength and stamina of the
elite runners coming from all over the country to compete in the 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K
race categories. While recreational runners and health and wellness enthusiasts can
test their endurance and prove their training is all worth it as they race from the start
line through the finish line in their chosen race distance.

Experience the fun and the thrill of running in the Tuna Capital of the Philippines at the
KCC GenSan Marathon at Veranza Mall Alfresco, General Santos City. Proceeds of
this event will benefit the KCC Foundation, Inc., which provides scholarship grants to
deserving and high potential students from the marginalized sector to provide them
with the opportunity for better education so that they can excel in their chosen fields

Team 7-Eleven Philippines Triumphs at Amazing Thailand Pattaya Marathon 2023

MANILA – In a remarkable display of grit and determination, Team 7-Eleven Philippines took on the daunting challenge of the Amazing Thailand Pattaya Marathon 2023, which concluded amidst relentless rain and fierce competition. Despite these formidable obstacles, the team’s resilience shone through, with an impressive 13 out of 18 runners securing top honors in the overall and age group categories.

Leading the team to the 21km Female podium’s second spot was Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist, Christine Hallasgo, with a time of 1:21:34, finishing 27 seconds behind the top finisher, Ethiopia’s Gebyehu Adbaru. Thailand’s Ornanong Wongsorn (1:26:09) and Laos’ Lodkeo Inthakoumman (1:28:08) took the third and fourth spots, respectively. Meanwhile, regular Team 7-Eleven Philippines qualifier, Nhea Ann Barcena, finished fifth with a time of 1:29:06.

In the Male division also of the half marathon, another SEA Games athlete and regular Team 7-Eleven Philippines qualifier, Richard Salaño, grabbed the third podium spot with a time of 1:12:04. He finished behind Kenyan John Muiruri (1:09:40) and Thailand’s Sanchia Namkhet (1:09:51). Teammate Prince Joey Lee secured the fifth spot with a time of 1:13:02, just 16 seconds behind Ethiopian Kebede Aberra Dinke who finished fourth (1:12:46).

First-time team qualifier, James Kevin Cruz, was the lone Filipino runner who landed in the Top 5 Overall spot of the full marathon, finishing at 2:45:55 to settle for fifth place. Cruz came in behind the top four finishers Bililign Yimer (2:22:27), Ebisa Takele (2:25:10), Wendwesen Tilahun (2:30:15), all from Ethiopia, and Kenyan Victor Kipkemei Chepkwony (2:35:48).

Additionally, eight more members of the team went home with honors, ranking at the top of their respective distance’s Age Group Category. Team 7-Eleven rookies Cherry Andrin and Artjoy Torregosa finished first and second in the 21km Female 16-29 Age Group, with times of 1:32:11 and 1:38:24, respectively. For the 21km Male division of the same age group, Team 7-Eleven rookies Jason Padayao secured the first spot with a time of 1:13:22, and Dhem Aj Monton took the second spot at 1:15:06.

In the 42km Male 30-39 Age Group, Florendo Lapiz landed on top with a time of 2:49:03. For the 42km Female Division, team regular Maricar Camacho (3:19:44), rookie Jennylyn Nobleza (3:21:35), and returnee Lizanne Abella (3:34:24) swept the top three spots of the 30-39 Age Group.

The Pattaya Marathon is an annual race held in the scenic city of Pattaya, Thailand, renowned for its beautiful beaches. This year, the race saw its largest number of participants ever, with a total of 14,000 participants from 52 countries.  This race was the perfect opportunity for the team to exhibit their exceptional talent and proudly represent not only 7-Eleven Philippines but also our country, the Philippines.

The delegation also visited the Honey Natural Farm and the Pattaya Floating Market.   • The 7-Eleven Run 2023 is open to all participants residing in the Philippines and will have three legs: Manila, Cebu and Davao. The Run will be held simultaneously in the three locations on February 4-5, 2023, and will have a total of nine (9) categories to choose from:
  • Only fully vaccinated individuals, or anyone who has completed the required 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (or 1 complete dose of a single-dose vaccine) are allowed to participate in the 7-Eleven Run 2023.
  • All participants are required to submit a proof of complete vaccination upon registration.
  • Individuals who are below 18 are required to present a guardian’s waiver together with their proof of complete vaccination upon registration.
  • Vaccination cards from other countries are accepted as long it shows full dosage (2 doses for 2-dosage COVID-19 vaccines or 1 complete does for single-dose COVID-19 vaccines).
  • After completion of online registration, participants with no issues or discrepancies on their vaccination cards will receive:

For Cliqq promo or promo participants – a Registration Confirmation Email which confirms the successful registration of the participant. It contains details of their registration, the 7-eleven store chosen, race kit release date.

  • For paying participants – after receiving their order confirmation email, participants can now pay for their registration in any 7-Eleven store they choose to transact with. It is suggested that they choose a store that is accessible and most convenient to them. The registration order confirmation email should be presented to the 7-Eleven cashier upon payment. Please note that the 7-eleven store that you chooses to transact your payment will be the store where you will pick-up your race kit..
  • All participants are entitled to a Race Kit upon payment of registration and a Finisher Kit and Finisher Entitlements after completing the run. The Race Kit must be claimed at the 7-Eleven store where payment was made, while the Finisher Kit and Entitlements are given at the event.

How to Claim:

To claim the Race Kit at 7-Eleven store, participants must present of their Payment Confirmation Email (printed copy or screen shot) together with a valid ID, to the cashier for verification.

After the successful Run 800 in 2013, Run 1000 in 2014, Run 1500 in 2015, Run 2016, Run 2017, and in 2018 the race was first held simultaneously in 3 locations across the country with over 25,000 runners participating.  So this year,  get your running gear ready as 7-Eleven officially launches the 7th year of the 7-Eleven Run Series.

This year promises to be even bigger, better and more exciting. Runners can expect to see new race categories, a chance to compete in an international Asian marathon, and even have the opportunity to win P500,000 cash.

The race in Luzon will be held in Filinvest City, Alabang. The Visayas leg will be held at Cebu Business Park, while the Mindanao leg will be in SM City Davao.

This year, runners will see new distances that will challenge experienced and novice runners alike. 7-Eleven is introducing the 32K category. Runners also have other options:  from a short 500 meter run for kids, a 10K buddy category, and up to a 42K full marathon.

World Jiu-Jitsu Champion Meggie Ochoa shared her advocacy, Fight to Protect, which is a movement to promote awareness on child sexual violence.  Meggie also demonstrated several practical self-defense techniques to the participants.  Global MMA Superstar Mark Striegl shared his fitness regimen and how he manages his weight before and after his fights.  Mark also gave the participant a 4-minute Fitstrong Core Workout, which is part of his 28 Days Fitstrong Challenge.  Elle Adda shared her Post Workout Recovery regimen to the participants. Elle also promoted her own advocacy, Pinoy It Forward, which is a movement rallying Filipinos from all over the world to build sustainable communities throughout the Philippines.

Team Amihan, in cooperation with Pinoy Trails and UPNR presents a benefit trial run dubbed as “Outrun your Dreams” trail run.  Outrun your Dreams aims to help our dear running friends Noy and Felmer to raise funds for their Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) quest. Ultra Trail du Mon Blanc is the most prestigious trail running race that will be held on August at Chamonix, France.  UTMB is tagged as Olympics of trail running where trail runners from around the world will compete and run the challenging course in the Alps.  The trail route encompasses the 174km of trails covering 3 countries – France, Italy and Switzerland.  It is the ultimate dream race to trail runners like Noy and Felmer which have been training for years for this prestigious race.  Each have impressive achievements and we can say that they are ready for making our country proud.

You can be part of their journey by joining the benefit trail run – Outrun your Dreams Trail Run will be held on May 27, 2018 at Wawa Covered Court, San Mateo, Rizal.  Be amazed with the beautiful scenery of Mount Ayaas and Mount Parawagan.

There will be 3 categories that will cater both newbies and seasoned runners.  There will also be a 2-km run for kids while newbie runners can choose between 6k or 10k route, and the experienced ones can opt to choose the 21k route.

Soleus Cross Country Challenge 3

Are you a newbie in trail running?  No worries, Soleus Cross Country Challenge 3 is one of the newbie-friendly trail race.  It offers the perfect view of Sierra Madre Mountain Range from Mount Sinai.  It also offers different categories that will suit each and every trail runner goal.  If you want fun and sweet trail, 8K category is for you while wet and wild adventure will be offered by the 12k category, but if you want a more challenging route, try their 21k category that will traverse from Mount Sinai to Casile to Inigan  with 500 steps and back to Mount Sinai.  The event will be held on July 1, 2018 at Mount Sinai, Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal.

The main highlight of the event is the RUNRIO Trilogy Awards is recognizing last year’s runners who completed the three-leg race series – 21k, 32k, and 42k category of RUNRIO Trilogy Series 2017. The awards also recognized not only the fastest, but also oldest finishers, they all received a limited edition medal hanger.

“The RUNRIO Trilogy Awards is our way of showing our appreciation to all those who participated and gave everything they’ve got fueled by their #HeartToFinish strong,” said Andrew Neri, RUNRIO Events, Inc. Managing Partner.

That evening was also an opportunity for RUNRIO to present YesPinoy Foundation with a PhP500,000.00 donation. Founded in 2009, the foundation in partnership with Taclob, produces emergency bags made by survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. The aim is to provide hooded cloak backpacks with emergency kits and learner’s materials to young people in vulnerable public schools particularly those in areas affected by Typhoons.

Also that night was the opportunity to announce the schedule of this year’s RUNRIO Trilogy Race Series which expands its presence in Cebu.

The first leg will be held on March 4 in Cebu and on March 18 in Manila, the second leg on May 6 in Cebu and June 3 in Manila. The last leg will be on August 19 in Cebu and September 23 in Manila.

This year’s event will be more fun and family oriented as there will be a 5k Family Run in which teams must consist of two adults and two kids – 15 years or below. There is also the 5k Barkada Run which is open to four adults that should be 16 years of age or older. There is also the 10k Buddy Run which, is also for participants 16 years old and above.

As an added incentive for runners, participants who register in groups are entitled to a substantial discount on the registration fees.
